Brief History of the Barangay
WAWA was named after the word “Mouth of the River” or “Tabing Ilog”, a barangay which is located at the mouth of Cañas River, which separates Rosario from the neighboring town of Tanza. Another barrio called Paso De Tabla, which was named after a wooden bridge place over a small river which connects the town of Rosario and San Francisco De Malabon.
WAWA is divided into (3) three barangays namely: Wawa I, Wawa II and Wawa III (having the biggest total land area of 26.09 hectares and part of its land area was owned by Philippine National Oil Company). Resolution No.18 Series of 1991 proclaims the separation of WAWA III from their mother Barangay according to the result of the plebiscite held on December 23, 1990 in Rosario, Cavite.
Other portions of WAWA III were planted with guava trees, mango trees and other fruit-bearing trees, until such time the big part of land area was sub-divided for the growing population.
Fishing is one of the major sources of livelihood and income of the residents in the area. When Cavite Export Processing Zone was opened, majority of the residents were given the chance to work which resulted to the increase of the population of WAWA III because of transient people.
Barangay Wawa III has a total land area of 26.0964 hectares.
Based on the PSA Census 2015, the population of barangay Wawa III was 11,921 people with a density of 457 per hectare.
